This memorial website was created in the memory of our loved one, Taegen Elise Mckinney who was born in New Mexico on November 11, 2005 and passed away on April 15, 2007 at the age of 17 MONTHS. 
We will remember her forever, and hope Taegens Law brings help and Justice to many families in her HONOR.

Taegen was killed by Jose Garcia, the 18 year old boyfriend of her babysitter. She was a special little princess, and all that knew her, loved her.  She was just a tiny little thing.  At 17 months and weighing less than 20 lbs, she had just learned to walk shortly before she was killed.  She kept a smile that no one could resist, and made you laugh because she was always happy.

When she was born, Taegens momma Jewel and daddy Cody were all excited they had a little princess.  The proudest of all was Taegens best friend and big brother Conner {4}.  He misses her everyday, and sees her as a butterfly, all around him everyday.  The powers of our father above. Rest in Peace baby girl, while we all rally and fight against child abuse and killers of children.  You will prove your power here on earth, as we all remember you, and keep you alive in so many hearts.

Taegen was defenseless in her killers hands. She never did anything to deserve to die at such a young age. The Jusice system shows no respect to our young defenseless children....we have to speak out and help protect them..... PLEASE GO TO THIS SIGHT:

UPDATE: JOSE GARCIA, THE MAN WHO MURDERED TAEGEN, ACCEPTED A PLEA BARGAIN FOR A LIFE SENTENCE.....IN NEW MEXICO A LIFE SENTENCE IS CONSIDERED 30 YEARS....HE WILL HAVE TO SERVE THE 30 YEARS, BUT WILL BE ELIGIBLE FOR PAROLE AT THE AGE OF 48, WITH LIFE STILL TO LIVE, WHILE TAEGEN ON THE OTHER HAND DOESNT GET TO RETURN TO US IN 30 YEARS, UNLESS WE ARE IN HEAVEN BY THEN.....ARE THE LAWS FAIR?????

**JOSE WAS GRANTED AN APPEAL MAY 2010. NEW TRIAL HAS BEEN POST PONED SEVERAL TIMES. NEW DATE IS JAN 30,2012 FOR TRIAL TO BEGIN.



I have a little Grandaugher, who means the world to me
She's living with the Angels and is as special as can be
And even though she's up there, playing in the clouds
She's still my precious Grandaughter and I am so very proud
Her picture takes pride of place on my living room wall
Ready to be admired by all who come to call
I know I can not hold her, or bounce her on my knee
